The latest big project won by our carving department consists of the design and execution of a carved pediment for a large new build private residence in north London. The architect provided a rough outline sketch proposal, prepared in conjunction with the client. This was then worked up into a design drawing fully detailing the classical ornamentation. This consists of an underlying flowing volute scroll decorated with acanthus leaves. After approval, the next stage was to scale model the design in clay as reference for the carvers. The pair of carved tympanums will each be 9 metres in length when completed. The progress of this job, which will take place in the next 5 months, will be followed on the website.
